A helicopter suspected to belong to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reportedly crashed early Monday morning, July 1, 2024, causing panic in the community.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident occurred at about 5 a.m. in Tami village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A confidential source from the area stated that the helicopter was on a routine operational flight when it developed technical difficulties, leading to the crash.
Fortunately, the pilot successfully executed emergency protocols, ensuring his survival. No casualties were reported.
“The villagers quickly gathered at the crash site, offering assistance where possible and expressing relief that no lives were lost. We heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene. We were surprised and relieved to see the pilot alive,” the source added.
A team of military officers swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation.
The Nigerian Air Force Spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, had not yet responded to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.
