Chief Dr. Bestman Anekwe, popularly known as Ochiagha Jesus and Chairman of NIPCO PLC, is alive, contrary to rumors circulating in some media outlets. Hon. Chukwudi Ezinwa, Secretary of the ALGON Board of Trustees and National Ex-officio member of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) representing the Eastern Zone, has debunked the false claims.
In a statement titled “Disclaimer and Warning Against Fake News on the Demise of Chief Dr. Bestman Enekwe (Ochiagha Jesus),” Ezinwa expressed disappointment at the spread of such unfounded stories. He emphasized that although Ochiagha Jesus recently lost his wife, this tragic event should not have led to malicious rumors about his own death.

“The attention of the public has been drawn to a false and malicious rumor circulating on social media platforms, particularly on Adazi ENU Facebook and Phoenix, alleging the sudden demise of Chief Dr. Bestman Anekwe (Ochiagha Jesus),” Ezinwa stated.
He categorically described the rumor as “false, malicious, baseless, and mischievous,” and drew a parallel to a similar falsehood once spread about the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Owelle of Onitsha. Ezinwa warned those perpetuating the falsehood to cease immediately.
He criticized the media outlets responsible for spreading the fake news, urging them to verify their reports to avoid damaging their credibility and causing harm to individuals and their families.
Ezinwa called on the public to disregard the rumor and to verify any information through credible sources before sharing. He also appealed for respect for the privacy and dignity of Chief Dr. Bestman Anekwe and his family during this difficult time.
