The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is set to deploy 984 officers for the upcoming council election in Enugu State, scheduled for September 21. Commander Cyprian Otoibhi of the NSCDC Enugu State Command made this announcement on Friday.
Otoibhi emphasized the importance of professionalism and integrity, urging the deployed personnel to uphold the Corps’ values and collaborate effectively with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
He also called on party officials, members, and voters to act lawfully and provide valuable intelligence to security personnel to protect election officials and materials, stressing that public cooperation is vital for a successful election.
The election will see political parties competing for 17 chairmanship positions and 260 ward councillorship seats. Otoibhi extended the best wishes of NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Audi to all officers involved in the election duties.
