The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has clarified that it has not instructed corps members to upgrade their accounts in anticipation of receiving a N70,000 minimum wage. This was stated by the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Eddy Megwa, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
Megwa debunked the false information circulating on social media, labeling it as complete misinformation. He emphasized that no directive regarding wage matters has been received from any relevant government sector, making it impossible for the NYSC to issue such an instruction.
“Corps members, parents, and the general public should be aware that no such directive has been given by the NYSC,” Megwa said. “Corps members are familiar with the official communication channels of the scheme and should disregard the false directive.”
He further urged corps members not to fall prey to the misleading information spread by mischief makers. Additionally, Megwa issued a warning to bloggers and social media influencers, advising them to refrain from making unauthorized statements regarding the management of the NYSC.
