The President of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC), Comr. Johnny S. Jonathan, has praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for swiftly launching a youth internship scheme aimed at engaging 10,000 youths from the Niger Delta region.
The NDDC unveiled the scheme last week, promising to enhance the skills of participating youths, each of whom will receive a monthly stipend of N50,000. On Monday, the Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, officially launched the initiative.
In a statement released on Monday, Jonathan expressed his gratitude to Dr. Ogbuku for promptly implementing the scheme just a week after its unveiling. He expressed confidence that the program will not only improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries but also give them a greater sense of belonging.
Jonathan urged Niger Delta youths, particularly those from the Ogbia Kingdom in Bayelsa State, to register for and take advantage of the program, assuring them that the application process would be transparent and fair for all applicants.
As Chairman of the Bayelsa State Local Government Youth Presidents Forum (BSLGYPF), Jonathan also commended Dr. Ogbuku’s contributions to the Ogbia Kingdom, his homeland. He noted that Ogbuku is rapidly transforming the Niger Delta region with people-driven projects and programs designed to improve living standards and sustain peace in the oil-rich area.
Jonathan described Ogbuku as a significant inspiration, acknowledging that his transformational leadership is being widely applauded. He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for giving Ogbuku the opportunity to revive the NDDC and make a lasting impact on the Niger Delta.
