The Ogun State Police Command has reassured residents of comprehensive security measures and effective patrol operations throughout the Easter festivities.
SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), emphasized this commitment in an interview with pathwaynews in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Odutola encouraged the populace to celebrate Easter with moderation, assuring them of the police presence across all areas to prevent any potential lawlessness.
“Wherever you may be, rest assured that police visibility is ensured,” Odutola stated. “Furthermore, our regular patrol routines are being rigorously maintained. Thus, whether it’s Easter or not, individuals can move around without fear.”
Nevertheless, the PPRO cautioned against nocturnal activities, particularly attending church vigils in remote locations.
“We must reconsider and educate our pastors and religious adherents to remain vigilant,” she emphasized. “Engaging in night vigils solely to ward off potential harassers or kidnappers is not advisable.”
“We’ve unfortunately seen instances where worshipers were abducted during vigils in remote areas,” she added.
The police command’s proactive stance aims to ensure the safety and security of all residents during the Easter period and beyond.
