The President of People Petition Writers Association of Nigeria (P-PWAN), Elias Odoemena, has urged Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom Wike, to set aside their differences for the progress of the state.
In a statement issued yesterday, Odoemena commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the disagreement between Fubara and Wike, expressing regret that the efforts did not yield the desired peaceful resolution. He emphasized the importance of elders and traditional rulers in Rivers State coming together to mediate and reconcile the rift between the two leaders.
“It is disheartening that some elders in the state have taken sides, worsening the feud between the governor and the immediate past governor,” Odoemena remarked.
Addressing Governor Fubara directly, he recalled the history between Fubara and Wike, urging the governor to remember Wike’s instrumental role in his ascent to the position of Rivers State governor. Odoemena drew a parallel with the biblical story of King David and King Saul, advising Fubara to prioritize reconciliation over divisive politics.
“Governor Fubara should refrain from investing all his strength and resources in the fight against Wike,” Odoemena added, encouraging Fubara to focus on governance and state development.
Concluding the appeal, Odoemena called on Wike to reciprocate efforts towards reconciliation and collaborate with Governor Fubara in bringing federal government projects and development to Rivers State. He urged both leaders to reject divisive counsel and work towards fostering peace and unity for the benefit of the state’s populace.
