Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state have expressed confidence in the appointment of Professor Nentawe Yiltwada as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, saying that. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not regret his actions
The APC elders committee said that the appointment was well deserving given Nentawe’s pedigree and sound academic background.
The position of the elders came at the same time as another group, which styled itself as APC Like minds debunked insinuations that the ministry should be reserved for women
Both groups distanced themselves from the purported press release by another group “Progressive Volunteers for Tinubu” which castigated the appointment on the premise that the ministry ought to be gender sensitive.
The APC elders, in a statement signed by its State Chairman Ambassador Danladi Wuyep
said the euphoria that greeted the appointment was an indication that Professor Yiltwada was a man of the people who has impacted so much in the lives of those who crossed his path, adding that his choice as minister was never a mistake but a derserved appointment.
“Yiltwada appointment is a recognition of loyalty, patriotism, and dedication all along. The appointment is a well-deserved one that we in the elders committee in Plateau believe will further spur him to do more for his country, Nigeria. He is an exceptional individual with impeccable character and integrity, coupled with a sound academic background.
“It is therefore heartwarming that President Tinubu decided to choose Prof. Nentawe to occupy that exalted office and, as such, a great honour to him, as well as the people of Plateau State. Prof. Nentawe’s appointment will in no small way re-invigorate, re-energise, and reposition the APC on the Plateau since he will represent the state at the Federal Executive Council.”
Also APC like minds addressing newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre on Tuesday expressed support for the appointment, saying that. Nentawe’s qualifications and credentials demonstrate his ability to excel as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The group led by the former Chairman of Jos North, Bala Usman, described the purported statement by Progressive Volunteers for Tinubu, led by one Timkat, which they described as non existent as borne out of ignorance in questioning the suitability of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda to head the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The group said that Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has distinguished himself in all the responsibilities assigned to him, proving competence, diligence, charismatic and full of initiatives to better the system like he did while serving as INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State when he was instrumental to initiating the BVAS machine aimed at reducing electoral fraud.
