The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested 21 suspects linked to recent killings and other criminal activities in the state.
According to Pathwaynews, four individuals, including a commercial motorcycle ticket agent, were recently killed by gunmen at different locations in Ado-Ekiti metropolis.
DSP Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesman, informed newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti that the arrests followed a discreet investigation by the command. The suspects were apprehended for alleged armed robbery and cultism.
Abutu explained that the suspects were members of different cult groups responsible for killings in the state as part of reprisal attacks within their confraternities. Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects is a member of the ‘Eiye Confraternity.’
Further investigation led to the arrest of several other suspects, including members of a notorious cult gang who allegedly traveled from Plateau to participate in the criminal acts.
Abutu stated that the suspects would soon be charged to court and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to help prevent further crimes.
