The Police Command in Rivers State is actively investigating an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonation near Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, according to an official statement.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the command, announced on Saturday that one male suspect has been apprehended in connection with the incident. She reassured residents, urging them to remain calm as detectives pursue leads to identify the sponsors and perpetrators responsible for the explosion.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding this regrettable event,” Iringe-Koko stated. “Efforts are underway to gather crucial information to shed light on this situation.”
She emphasized that security measures have been bolstered to ensure the safety of residents and visitors across the state. Iringe-Koko also expressed gratitude to the public for providing valuable information, including photos and videos, to aid ongoing investigations.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious objects or activities to the police,” she added, calling for cooperation with law enforcement to enhance security measures related to the incident.
