President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) following the resignation of their predecessors.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, it was announced that Mohammed Mohamed will now lead the NIA. Mohamed, a seasoned diplomat with an illustrious career in the foreign service, joined the NIA in 1995. He has served in various capacities, including as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Mohamed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
The new Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, has risen through the ranks to his current position. Ajayi previously served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi, bringing extensive experience to his new role.
President Tinubu expressed his expectation that the new leaders will enhance collaboration among intelligence agencies to address Nigeria’s security challenges effectively. He also thanked the outgoing directors for their dedicated service to the nation.
