The Governing Council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), led by Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd), has ratified the appointment of Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations at UniAbuja, announced the ratification shortly after the Council’s inaugural meeting held on Friday in Abuja.
Prof. Maikudi recently assumed the role of Acting Vice-Chancellor following the end of the five-year tenure of the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah. Her recommendation for the position by the University’s Senate was made in accordance with Section 4, subsection (4b) of the University of Abuja Acts, and section 5(13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003.
In her response, Prof. Maikudi urged members of the Governing Council to leverage their experience, expertise, and passion in fulfilling the Council’s mission. She stated, “Your leadership and vision are crucial in guiding our university through these challenging times and towards a future of sustained growth and excellence. We have the opportunity to work collaboratively and tirelessly towards realizing the full potential of the University of Abuja. We need to build on our past achievements, address our current challenges, and create a brighter future for our institution and all its stakeholders.”
