Rep. Dalyop Fom (LP/Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency) of Plateau has empowered 400 constituents, primarily victims of bandit attacks, by providing them with vocational skills. According to The Pathway News, the beneficiaries, consisting mainly of women and youths, received training in various trades such as fashion design, barbing, hairdressing, soap making, and oil extraction.
During a presentation ceremony in Jos on Sunday, Fom provided the trainees with materials and equipment, emphasizing that the initiative was aimed at enabling them to utilize their new skills to earn a livelihood. He highlighted his ongoing efforts to support his constituents, which include financial assistance for petty traders and small business owners, as well as distributing agricultural inputs and tools to farmers.
“The initiative demonstrates my commitment to the welfare and development of my constituents and represents my humble efforts to make a positive impact in the community,” Fom stated. He added that the constituency intervention program is designed to address critical challenges such as youth unemployment, poverty, and insurgency.
