The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state amidst a political crisis over the tenures of the local government chairpersons.
Chief Tony Okocha, APC’s Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State, made this appeal during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. He emphasized the potential economic implications if the issue is not resolved swiftly, highlighting the state’s strategic importance in Nigeria.
Earlier in the week, Governor Fubara swore in new caretaker committees for the local governments, following the expiration of the tenure of the former officeholders on Monday.
