A former Deputy Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Uche Okwukwu, has said the next president general of the apex- Igbo socio-cultural group should come from Rivers State.
He argued that his demand is in line with Article 11 of Ohanaeze’s constitution, which gives room for zoning.
He claimed that some unnamed traditional rulers, members of Ime Obi Ohanaeze, former Secretary Generals from Anambra, Enugu, Delta, and Ebonyi, States, have backed the aspiration of Rivers State to produce the next helmsman.
The election is coming up in January 10, 2025, following the demise of its former president, Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, who died in July 25, 2024
Okwukwu, in a statement recently, also suggested that there should be an intellectual discourse, for members to make things clear, “and after that, a communique will be issued , establishing the right of Rivers Igbo to produce the next President-General.”
