The Coalition of Northern Civil Society Organizations (CNCSOs) has charged President Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle to sustain the fight against banditry.
This is even as the group hailed President Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Northern Nigeria is laudable.
Its Convener, Usman Usman, in a statement yesterday, said the strategic appointments of Ribadu and Matawalle marked a turning point in the fight against insecurity.
According to Usman, as National Security Adviser, Ribadu has implemented multi-faceted strategy which integrates military, political, and socio-economic initiatives, prioritizing cross-border cooperation, youth empowerment, and local institution reinforcement.
He noted that Matawalle, meanwhile, has taken the fight to the bandits, adding that his leadership has brought hope to troubled region.
Usman said: “ engagement with traditional leaders, community groups, and civil society organizations has been pivotal. His commitment to regional and international cooperation demonstrates Nigeria’s determination.
“Ribadu’s expertise has strengthened Nigeria’s security architecture, addressing evolving threats. We salute his dedication to protecting Nigerian lives.
“Matawalle has utilized a strategic approach which has brought hope to the troubled region. His unwavering commitment strengthened the military, restoring hope to communities terrorized by banditry.
“The elimination of Mai Hijabi, a notorious terrorist leader, under Matawalle’s leadership, demonstrates effectiveness. Matawalle inspires Nigerians with dedication”.
He, however, urged Nigerians to continue to support Ribadu and Matawalle, adding that community-based initiatives and cooperation are vital.
Usman further said: “To Ribadu and Matawalle, we say: do not relent. Your work brings hope. Continue your tireless efforts.
“The Coalition stands with you. Together, we can achieve a safer Nigeria.”
