President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a brief working visit to France. The President, who departed Abuja on Monday evening, arrived back in the country on Friday at approximately 2:25 a.m., touching down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
During his time in France, President Tinubu was engaged in a series of diplomatic and economic meetings aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s international relations and boosting economic ties with France and other global partners.
Following his arrival in Abuja, President Tinubu is set to swear in the newly approved Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, at the Council Chambers of the State House later this morning. The swearing-in ceremony comes in the wake of the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 70.
The presidency, in a statement released on Thursday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, confirmed the upcoming ceremony and expressed the administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition in the leadership of the judiciary.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun’s appointment as the new Chief Justice marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s judicial history, as she takes over the mantle of leadership from her predecessor, Justice Ariwoola, who served with distinction.
As the nation welcomes its new Chief Justice, all eyes will be on the Council Chambers this morning, where the official swearing-in will solidify the transition at the helm of Nigeria’s judiciary.
