Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested three suspected bandits in the border town of Andemin, located in the Karim Local Government Area of Taraba State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, Capt. Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, confirmed that the command also apprehended a significant logistics supplier for a terrorist group operating in the region.
The statement noted, “Following credible intelligence, a special operation was launched on October 7, 2024, in the Andamin general area of Karim Lamido LGA. This operation led to the successful apprehension of several suspected bandits at Jeb-Jeb, a border community between Taraba and Plateau States. The suspects, identified as Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu, are believed to be responsible for a series of criminal activities, including armed robberies, kidnappings, and violent assaults on local communities.”
These arrests are part of a broader effort by the 6 Brigade to combat the rising tide of inter-state criminality within its operational area. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects have been active in the state for several years, and efforts are underway to apprehend other members of their criminal syndicate.
Additionally, a key logistics supplier for a notorious terrorist group in Taraba State was arrested in a separate operation in Bunka village, Lau LGA. The suspect, Musa Inusa, is believed to have been providing essential supplies and materials to terrorists in the area. His arrest is expected to disrupt the supply chain and weaken the operational capabilities of the group. Recovered items include a jackknife, a sum of Two Thousand Four Hundred and Sixty Naira, wraps of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp, and other illicit drugs. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement with criminal and terrorist activities in the state.
The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army assures the public that the fight against banditry and terrorism will continue with full vigor. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
