Troops from the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralized two bandits in a fierce encounter in Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This success was reported in a statement by Lt. Sulaiman Omale, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations (ADAPR) for 1Bde/Sect 1 OPHD, on Sunday.
Omale detailed that the operation, part of the ongoing “Operation Hadarin Daji” under Operation Sahel Sanity II, continues to make strides in combating banditry in the North-West region. On August 16, 2024, troops responded to credible intelligence about extremist activities in the area.
During the engagement, the troops engaged in a serious gunfight with the bandits, successfully neutralizing two of them. The clash forced other bandits to retreat in disarray. Following the confrontation, the troops conducted a mop-up operation, recovering one operational motorcycle used by the extremists.
Omale assured that the area has been secured and that troops are maintaining a strong presence to ensure local safety. The success of this operation underscores Operation Hadarin Daji’s commitment to eliminating banditry and restoring peace and security to Zamfara and the surrounding regions.
